Revising Barrister at the Time of revising the List of Voters to mark against the Names of such Voters as shall be disqualified the Grounds and Period of such Disqualification; 21.

Consolidate and amend the Laws

Laws relating to
Bribery, Corrupt Treating, and Intimidation at
Elections.

HEREAS grievous Complaints are made, that notwith- Preamble. standing the Laws now in force, the Election of Members

to serve for the Commons in Parliament is often procured by Bribery, Treating, and other corrupt and dishonourable Means, 5 in violation of the Freedom which ought to be observed at such Elections, to the great Scandal of the Kingdom, and destructive (if permitted) of the independent Constitution of Parliament itself: And whereas it is expedient to consolidate and amend such Laws as aforesaid, in order to prevent, as far as may be, the Continuation and 10 Repetition of such Offences in future: For the Remedy, therefore, of so great an Evil, and to the end that all Elections of Members to serve for the Commons House of Parliament may hereafter be freely and indifferently made, Be it enacted by the Queen's most Excellent Majesty, by and with the Advice and Consent of the Lords Spiritual 15 and Temporal, and Commons, in this present Parliament assembled, and by the Authority of the same, as follows:

I. The several Acts of Parliament mentioned in the Schedule here- Repeal of under written shall be and the same are hereby repealed to the Extent Acts in

Schedule.
