Training includes programs in executive leadership, office management, language training, visual communications, professional management, and automatic data processing procedures.

POST OFFICE DEPARTMENT

1. Internal audit and management training with the International Accountants Society, Inc. (C) (M)

Fifteen internal auditors were given a 20 assignment specialized correspondence course on modern concepts of internal auditing. This course is especially beneficial to our lower grade employees whom we recruited from post offices. The accounting education of these men did not include specialized study of internal auditing.

Ten internal auditors were given a 20 assignment correspondence course in management controls. This course was given to our higher grade supervisory employees to strengthen their knowledge of modern management concepts and practices. The Division is expanding the scope of its work to include more and more "management" or "operations" auditing.

2. Accounting training with the International Accountants Society, Inc. (C)

This is a 60-assignment correspondence accounting course. The course furnishes the best accounting instructions obtainable in the shortest possible time. The basic objectives of this course are (1) to have more personnel specially trained in accounting with (2) uniform familiarity of up-to-date accounting procedures.

3. Inservice training school for postal inspectors (GS)

To train postal inspectors in Federal procedures, the investigation of postal offenses over which the Postmaster General has primary authority, and the investigation of the conditions and needs of the postal service. The goals are (1) a thorough and systematically pursued basic training for each appointee; (2) uniform familiarity with and use of recognized investigative procedures; and (3) the earliest practicable opportunity to qualify on and enable assignment to work of the specialized categories.
