PRELIMINARY DRAFT FOR INFORMATION PURPOSES ONLY March 28, 1968 OUTLINE FOR DESCRIPTION OF PROJECTED PROGRAM ACTIVITIES IN VOCATIONAL EDUCATION FOR FISCAL YEAR 1969 WITH ESTIMATED EXPENDITURES AND REQUEST FOR TRANSFER OF FUNDS U.S. DEPARTMENT OF HEALTH, EDUCATION, AND WELFARE Bureau of Adult, Vocational, and Library Programs OUTLINE FOR DESCRIPTION OF PROJECTED PROGRAM ACTIVITIES IN VOCATIONAL EDUCATION WITH ESTIMATED EXPENDITURES AND REQUEST FOR TRANSFER OF FUNDS Each State with an approved State plan shall submit annually a statement describing its projected program of activities for maintaining, extending, improving, and developing programs of vocational education so that persons of all ages in all communities of the State will have ready access to vocational training or retraining which is of high quality, which is realistic in the light of actual or anticipated opportunities for gainful employment, and which is suited to their needs, interests, and ability to benefit from such training. This statement in effect becomes the State board's annual program plan for vocational education against which year-end reports may be evaluated. In addition, it provides a rationale for State decisions in allocating for various program purposes the Federal funds allotted to it. An original and two copies of the description are to be sent to the Director of Adult, Vocational, and Library Programs in the respective OE/HEW Regional Office on or before May 15, 1968, along with (1) the State's fiscal year Estimate of Total Expenditures and (2) Request for Transfer of Funds. Describe the following in a concise narrative form and support with appropriate statistical, survey, and evaluative data which is basic to the State's determination of program needs, emphases, and goals PART A Items included in this part should relate to the State's total program of vocational and technical education which will be operated during this year. Relate the vocational and technical education program to the total manpower effort in the State. 1. On a State map locate the area vocational schools (recognized as such by the State Board) and indicate the area of the State served by each school. Identify by letter "N" which schools will begin operation for the first time during the year. Provide also a list of the area schools in operation this coming fiscal year by type of school, location, and the vocational offerings by level in each. (See Table I) |
