Notes and Comments

"Pompeian" Olive Oil.

Doctor, when you order olive oil for a patient be sure and order Pompeian; thus your patient will get the absolutely pure oil made from the genuine Mediterranean olives. No need to fear harm from decayed olives, when you specify "Pompeian." Pompeian is pressed from the finest olives, which gives it the rich fruity flavor so much appreciated.

Write for literature and sample. Mention The Medical Council and address the Pompeian Co., Washington, D. C.

A Bad Weather Buggy.

Do you still ride around in the old open buggy where you have to face the bitter cold and storm, Doctor? It is not fair to yourself to do it, and you will feel its results later on. Why not get a "Cozy Cab" and prevent all this? With a "Cozy Cab" a turn of the lever transforms it into a warm and snug closed carriage where you are sheltered from the cold and storm. It's worth knowing about and using, Doctor. Write to Fouts & Hunter Carriage Co., 79 Third St., Terre Haute, Ind. (mentioning The Medical Council), for full information about the "Cozy Cab."

A Cure for Tuberculosis?

[Since writing this article the author has gone over it carefully and repeatedly, changing it here and there when he thought he could make it stronger. It seems as though every physician should read it through. It seems as though no physician can read it through and not be so thoroughly convinced of its sincerity and truth, that he will sign and mail the coupon without delay.]

Τ

HE reader will notice the question mark at the end of the title of this article. The editor will tell you that cures are frowned upon. That an absolute cure for tuberculosis has been found no one believes. That a drug has been found that will cure incipient tuberculosis, that, in fact, has cured many cases that seemed beyond cure, it is the object of this article to prove.

The writer appreciates at the outset the difficulties under which he labors. He must overcome the natural prejudice of thinkers who make up the great majority of readers of THE MEDICAL COUNCIL.

The drug to which he refers is known as CALCREOSE. It is a chemical combination of calcium and creosote (from which it derives its name) and contains approximately 50 per cent. pure beechwood creosote, of the very highest quality obtainable.

For nearly four years Calcreose has been employed by a great many physicians in a large class of cases. Many of these physicians have written the manufacturers of cures of incipient tuberculosis and some have reported most remarkable success in advanced cases that seemed beyond the power of man to cure.

The Test.

The manufacturers of Calcreose are ready to submit evidence that it is worthy of investigation; then they are ready to prove the value of the drug by sending a liberal supply of the drug with which physicians can test it thoroughly in their own practise. If it proves as valuable as other physicians say it is, you will be glad to pay for it; if it does not give perfect satisfaction, you are not expected to pay for it. There are no strings to this offer. You, doctor, will be sole judge and your report will be final.

This offer is so perfectly fair and square that it seems as tho every reader of THE MEDICAL COUNCIL will at once grasp the opportunity to test a drug so highly recommended for use in a class of cases that are hard to cure.

The Evidence.

It is difficult to give in a short article reports of physicians who have tested Calcreose and proved its value. Many of these reports accompany each package of Calcreose, so that no doctor will hesitate to employ it. However, we will insert one recent report:

State Tuber

A man was discharged from the culosis Hospital, the physician in charge saying that the patient could not live over two weeks. The home physician was called and he immediately placed the patient on Calcreose. Under this treatment, the patient gained rapidly and persistently. Examination of sputum at beginning of treatment showed presence of bacilli; examination at the end of three months, bacilli still present but in far less degree; examination at the end of six months and later dates showed entire freedom from bacilli. patient was under treatment for a year and in that time gained 52 pounds in weight. He went back to work in the railroad shops and is still there. An incident in

This

connection with this case worth mentioning is the fact that this man was a drunkard. Since beginning treatment with Calcreose he has taken no liquor and is today entirely free from a desire for spirits.

"Oh, well," you say, "one case does not prove anything." True. This article would never have been written had it to depend upon one cure. The physician reporting above has treated dozens of others in which the diagnosis clearly called for Calcreose, and it has been uniformly successful. Doctors from practically every section of the country are voluntarily reporting cures of cases on which their last hope was in Calcreose, and they were successful. To be perfectly frank, we must say reports of failures reach us, too; in most of these cases, where we can get details, we find either that the case was too far gone to save or that the Calcreose was not given with the care necessary to produce the best results.

The Reason Why.

This is the age of the "reason why." The reason Calcreose is so successful is because the manufacturers discovered a process by which creoote could be administered in larger doses. While creosote itself can only be given in small doses, when combined, as in Calcreose, the safe dosage seems to have no limit. As high as 120 minims of creosote has been administered daily-thru Calcreose without disturbing the stomach in the slightest, and with absolutely no unfavorable results of any kind.

Hundreds of MEDICAL COUNCIL readers have already ordered Calcreose on approval (and most of them are glad of it), but there are thousands more who are still "on the fence." We will be disappointed if a great many of them do not reply to this communication.

Sanatoria

The sanitarium treatment of many classes of cases, especially where a radical change of the patient's mode of life, diet, thinking and living is necessary or desirable, has long since proven its value and usefulness.

The family physician cannot be expected to have all of the modern methods of treatment most applicable in all of the different special cases: to do so he would need a regular hospital and then not have enough.

That is the reason for the success of the sanitarium treatment of special diseases.

The sanitarium devotes its whole attention to one certain class of cases, hence it can have all of the latest appliances and methods of use in that special class, and the physicians in charge having given years of special study and attention to that one class of cases are able to secure results in treatment which the family physician cannot. Then, too, the patient being sent away from home is certain to obey instructions-something which the family physician could not hope to secure.

When the patient is away from home he does NOT have the ill effect of well-meant but mistaken sympathy of relatives and friends which adversely influences his state of mind and militates against prompt psychic response to treatment. The mind strongly influences the effect of treatment.

The selection of the best sanitarium for each individual patient must usually be made by the physician, and in order to do this most advantageously the physician must know the relative value in each particular class of cases of the various special sanitaria.

It is necessary that the physician should familiarize himself with the best of these institutions, and to that end we suggest that our readers send to the following institutions for their reports and announcements.

All of the sanitaria_advertised on the following pages are known to THE MEDICAL COUNCIL, and you can feel every confidence, Doctor, that your patients, if sent to them, will get every possible advantage that modern science can give.

All of these sanitaria are high-class institutions, perfectly ethical, and will reflect credit upon your reputation for having sent your patients thereto.

We earnestly urge you, Doctor, to write to these sanitaria for full information, reports, rates, etc., and keep it on file so that you will be ready to refer your exceptional case to the right sanitarium.

Do it NOW, Doctor. A postal card will bring the desired information.
