f) supporting a system which would emphasize well being, nutrition, exercise, disease prevention, and the health maintenance system--a system which would involve the patient consumer in a two-way therapeutic relationship with the physician, health educator and other health care providers.

As presently offered, many National Health Insurance proposals will aggravate the present alienating, deteriorating relationship. We may only be buying technology over personal medicine without achieving maximum results for the dollars spent.

We urge concrete initiatives and incentives for providers to encourage patient consumer participation in their own well being and health maintenance.
