FORWARD

Enclosed is a 2-volume compilation of laws relating to water resources and environmental matters under the jurisdiction of the Committee on Transportation and Infrastructure.

Volume 1 contains water resources, disaster relief, and related laws. Most of these provisions and authorities involve the Corps of Engineers, the Federal Emergency Management Agency, the Tennessee Valley Authority, the St. Lawrence Seaway Development Corporation, the Coast Guard, and the Natural Resources Conservation Service. The laws focus on water resources planning and management and the protection, construction, operation and maintenance, and rehabilitation of environmental and other infrastructure.

Volume 2 contains water pollution control, environmental protection, and related laws. Most of these provisions and authorities involve the Environmental Protection Agency, the Coast Guard, the Corps of Engineers, and the National Oceanic and Atmospheric Administration. The majority of the volume covers the Clean Water Act, the Oil Pollution Act, the Ocean Dumping Act, and the Comprehensive Environmental Response, Compensation, and Liability Act.

Obviously, this compilation cannot include every existing law or program relating to water resources and environmental matters under the Committee's jurisdiction. The intent, instead, is to include the major laws and programs and to update and revise the compilation on a regular basis.

The Committee hopes these documents will be helpful to those interested in our Nation's laws involving water resources and the environment.

BUD SHUSTER,

Chairman, Committee on Transportation and Infrastructure.
