WEST EUROPEAN PROGRAM This program activity consists of: (a) operating and space costs of 26 information centers and four reading rooms; (b) local book translation and distribution costs; (c) production and display of small scale exhibits; (d) presentation of U.S. and locally-purchased books and magazines to selected organizations and institutions: (e) English teaching activities, including seminars and programs designed to encourage the use of American-oriented teaching aides; (f) cultural activities encompassing support to the Exchange of Persons Program, lectures, concerts, seminars, workshops, and similar functions, including those presented in cooperation with indigenous organizations. These activities are designed to promote wide appreciation of America's cultural, political, economic and scientific achievements.
