THE STATE FINANCES. For the two years ending September 30, 1888. The state debt on the 30th day of September, 1888, was classified as follows: The aggregate result of the financial transanctions, during two years, on all funds, is as foliows: Section 743, R. S., from counties for suit tax. GENERAL FUND. This fund embraces all the revenues of the State applicable to the payment of the ordinary expenses of the State Government. The sources from which it is derived are tax on civil actions, license of railroad companies, plank-road companies, telegraph companies, insurance companies, hawkers and peddlers, notary public fees, office fees and sales of laws and reports. The expenditures therefrom are authorized by permanent and temporary appropriations, and by the several laws requiring the Secretary of State to audit accounts.
