Sır: There is enclosed for report for appropriation a certified copy of the decree entered January 11, 1944, in the case of Union Shipping and Trading Company, Ltd., v. United States of America in the Southern District of New York, Ad. No. 116/23, in favor of libellant in the total sum of $54,282.06, which sum includes costs as taxed in the district court and in the court of appeals. No interest is to be allowed. The action is brought under the Private Act of May 25, 1937, chapter 257 (50 Stat. II—974), for damage to libellant's vessel, thé steamship Reims, on April 25, 1918, in the Gironde River, France, by the Army transport Berwind. The War Department is the Department in interest.
