JUNE 1, 1967 LANE MEDICAL LIBRARY ST FORD U. ¡VERSITY CATALOGALLICAL CENTER OF STANFORD, CALIF. 94305 FEDERAL ASSISTANCE PROGRAMS 1967 OFFICE OF ECONOMIC OPPORTUNITY INTRODUCTION EXECUTIVE OFFICE OF THE PRESIDENT In December 1965 we created and published the Catalog of Federal Programs. It was the first time that many Federal programs had been brought together in one book, and it enabled public officials and private citizens better to understand and use those programs. The demand for copies and the enthusiastic endorsement of users across the nation far exceeded our expectations. That demand clearly demonstrated the value of the book. This second edition, directed by Congress and supported by the Bureau of the Budget, is broader and more comprehensive than the first. The book now contains all domestic assistance programs of the Federal government. The new title, Catalog of Federal Assistance Programs, reflects the broader scope of the document and the cooperative efforts of all agencies of the Federal government in its compilation. I commend the new Catalog to you, the user. I invite your comments for its improvement. I know that it will prove to be a useful tool in helping you to locate and utilize those Federal assistance programs which will effectively satisfy the needs of the people. |
