A Gold Medal was given annually from 1851 to 1913 (1851-60 at Marischal College) by the Magistrates and Town Council of Aberdeen to the most distinguished scholar at the termination of the Arts Curriculum; in 1914 two gold medals were given in the Departments of Language and Philosophy, and Science. * Wm. Low was first in the Examination, but was ineligible to hold the prize.
