The absence of the Editor at Washington, which has enabled him to give the ac-
count of the Great National Fair which will be found in this number, and to make
arrangements for the publication in the July number of the National Magazine of
the full and official report and catalogue of said fair, must be his apology to his
friends in the Book Trade for the absence at this time of all notices of New Books.
It will, however, give him the greatest pleasure to make amends for this, by a more
copious and extended account of new publications next month.
