44.001 CREDIT UNION CHARTER, EXAMINATION, SUPERVISION, AND INSURANCE

ISTRATION

AUTHORIZATION: Federal Credit Union Act as amended to October 19, 1970; Public Law 86-354; 12 U.S.C., 1751 et seq. OBJECTIVES: To offer to groups that have a common bond the chance to establish and operate their own credit unions. TYPES OF ASSISTANCE: Advisory Services and Counseling; Provision of Specialized Services; Insurance.

USES AND USE RESTRICTIONS: Staff will explain Federal credit union chartering requirements to any interested group, will help with the preparation of the charter application, and will assist a newly chartered credit union to begin operation. Grant of a Federal charter will provide $20,000 depositor insurance on individual accounts. State-chartered credit unions are eligible to apply for depositor insurance.

ELIGIBILITY REQUIREMENTS:

Applicant Eligibility: Associations of 200 or more persons, employee groups of 100 or more, and rural communities with 200 or more families may qualify for a Federal credit union charter. There is a $20.00 investigation fee and $5.00 charter fee submitted with the application.

Beneficiary Eligibility: Same as applicant eligibility.
Credentials/Documentation: None.

APPLICATION AND AWARD PROCESS:

Preapplication Coordination: None. Initial information may be obtained from regional offices listed below.

Application Procedure: Made in the form of a request to the Administrator, National Credit Union Administration. Requests are submitted through regional offices.

Award Procedure: The organization certificate, if approved by the Administrator, shall be the charter of the Federal credit union and mailed to the keyman.

Deadlines: None.

Range of Approval/Disapproval Time: Once the necessary investigations are completed, the processing will take approximately 2 weeks.

Appeals: None.

45.001 PROMOTION OF THE ARTS - ARCHITECTURE AND DESIGN

FEDERAL AGENCY: NATIONAL ENDOWMENT FOR THE ARTS, NATIONAL FOUNDATION ON THE ARTS AND HUMANITIES AUTHORIZATION: National Foundation on the Arts and Humanities

Act of 1965; Public Law 89-209 as amended by Public Law 90-348 and Public Law 91-346; 20 U.S.C. 961-3. OBJECTIVES: To provide grants for projects, including research, in architecture, landscape architecture and environmental design. TYPES OF ASSISTANCE: Project Grants.

USES AND USE RESTRICTIONS: The grants may be used for research, design projects, travel, some publication. There are no funds for construction or rehabilitation of facilities. ELIGIBILITY REQUIREMENTS:

Applicant Eligibility: Grants are made to individuals and to non-profit, tax-exempt organizations. Ordinarily, individual grant awards are made only to U.S. citizens.

Beneficiary Eligibility: Those associated with the architecture field. Credentials/Documentation: None. APPLICATION AND AWARD PROCESS: Preapplication Coordination: None.

Application Procedure: Applicants must complete a NEA provided application form (NEA-2 for individuals, NEA-3 for organizations) which includes budgetary information and a description of the proposed project. The forms are to be sent to the headquarters office listed below.

Award Procedure: The Chairman of the Endowment makes the final decision on all awards based on recommendations from the National Council on the Arts, (the NEA advisory body), and the consulting panels in this field. Headquarters office will determine on a case by case basis those initial applicants that can further disperse grant money.

OBJECTIVES: To provide grants to assist dancers, choreographers, and dance organizations.

USES AND USE RESTRICTIONS: The grants may be used for the creation of new works, touring, workshops, criticism, management, national services, and dance films. There are no funds for construction or rehabilitation of facilities, general support, study abroad, scholarships, publications or research. ELIGIBILITY REQUIREMENTS:

USES AND USE RESTRICTIONS: The grants are awarded for creation of new works, for bringing creative writers into secondary schools and developing colleges, for support of small literary magazines and presses throughout the country, for international conferences of writers hosted in the United States. There are no funds for construction or rehabilitation of facilities.
