This office was established in 1898. Prior to December 1, 1936, it covered both North and South Carolina, but since that date it has covered North Carolina only. It is the only office of the Secret Service Division located in the state and is charged with the usual duties of the service. It reports to the Supervising Agent of District 5 at Baltimore, Md. For a short period while repairs were in progress on the Federal Building, the office was located in the Builders' Building. All records are preserved and are strictly confidential.
