Records in Custody of the North Carolina Historical Commission
State Office Bldg., NW. cor. Edenton and Salisbury Sts.

The records listed here pertain to the custodian service when it was under the jurisdiction of the Office of Supervising Architect. When the functions of the latter office were acquired in 1933. by the Procurement Division, Public Works Branch, these records were stored in the attic of the Post Office Building, now known as the Federal Building, in custody of the Postmaster. When the building was remodeled in 1937, the records were released to their present custody. The Commission plans to file them for public use.

This office was established July 5, 1935. It is charged with the duties of procuring materials, supplies, and equipment for all agencies in North Carolina operating with funds under the Emergency Relief Appropriation Acts of 1935-1938. It reports direct to Washington and has no branch offices. It was located in the Raleigh Building, 5 W. Hargett Street, from July 1935 through December 1936, when it was moved to its present location. 948. ADMINISTRATIVE FILE, July 1935 to date.
