The House met pursuant to adjournment and was called to order by the Speaker.

Roll called: quorum present.

Absent without leave: Messrs. Benoit, J. T. Campbell, J. W. Curtiss, Knight, Mills, Wachtel and Zimmerman.

On motion of Mr. Hammond,

Leave of absence was granted to Mr. J. T. Campbell for the day.

On motion of Mr. J. W. Curtiss,

Leave of absence was granted to himself until Monday next.
On motion of Mr. W. W. Ferguson,

Leave of absence was granted to Mr. Zimmerman for the day.
On motion of Mr. Holmes,

Leave of absence was granted to Mr. Knight until Monday next.

Mr. Sullivan offered the following:

Resolved, That the journal of yesterday's proceedings be corrected so as to show, that

House bill No. 433 (file No. 114), entitled

A bill to re-incorporate the city of Lansing and to repeal all acts and parts of acts in conflict therewith.

Was not read in extenso on the third reading thereof, but that said bill was on motion of Mr. Davock, "to consider the bill read," and after objection by Mr. Sullivan, declared by the chair to be so considered read. Which was not adopted.

By unanimous consent:

Mr. Chamberlain moved that a respectful message be sent to the Senate, asking the return to the House of

House bill No. 547, entitled

A bill appropriating a sum of money to the State Board of Health for the purpose of cleaning out and deepening Black river, in Sanilac county, for sanitary purposes, and prescribing the manner of its expenditure under the supervision of the State Board of Health.

On agreeing to which,

Mr. Moll demanded the yeas and nays.

The demand was seconded, and the motion prevailed by yeas and nays as follows:
